Tribalism is a concept deeply rooted in human nature—our instinct to form groups, create identities, and establish a sense of belonging. While it may foster a sense of belonging it is also what leads us down the path to war and away from peace, as divisions between groups deepen and conflicts arise. This project explores the power, unity, and division that come with tribal affiliations, using bold visuals to represent the duality of connection and conflict that tribalism can create in society.
This typographic sculpture takes inspiration from strong, symbolic imagery, incorporating dynamic typography created out of barbed wire, sharp contrasts, and layered textures to reflect the inherent danger of human allegiances. The final composition serves as a visual statement on the forces that shape culture, influence ideologies, and define collective identity. Through this work, Tribalism challenges viewers to examine the role of group identity in their own lives—how it unites, how it divides, and how it ultimately shapes the world around us.
